Well progress is slow but it's uni holidays now and that means two weeks to play in the workshop again.
This is an old pic to show what was annoying me - that little smack it's taken under the plaque.
I filled it with solder, filed the excess off then repainted the entire centre piece. This wasn't exactly as simple as it seemed as it required disconnecting from the switch and separating from the base. I had to un-solder my newly fitted cap, then store all the bits carefully. It all went back together well though, and if you'll excuse the crap quality pic, it looks like this now.
I think I've also painted the wheel covers since last time I posted. The grey is growing on me, and it's clear now that the red on it now isn't original, it used to be much more scarlet. I found some scrap steel and had a play. I was wearing a face-shield.
