Two skin.
Sore eye this morning. Looks like something got past my gogles. Doctor's receptionist is telling me that I have to go to A&E!
Yes, Gloucester is currently on lockdown I think. Last time this happened I was able to visit the doctor, who removed it.Oops! I suspect you’ll be there a while….

Speaking as someone who has had the unfortunate experience of twice getting metal (steel) bodies in an eye (yes, goggles were worn on both occasions), getting the offending 'metal' item out is usually the easy part. After a day or so, a 'rust ring' forms around the foriegn body and this will adhere itself to the eye. It is usually cut out using the sharp edge of the pointy end of a syringe needle!Playing with a super strong welding magnet currently. I have tried my optician who can't get me in until tomorrow afternoon and another one who just cuts off the line after a few rings.
I was told the eye is the quickest healing bit of your body so anything you get in it needs to come out pronto, you can do with out the odd finger but eyes is a different matterSpeaking as someone who has had the unfortunate experience of twice getting metal (steel) bodies in an eye (yes, goggles were worn on both occasions), getting the offending 'metal' item out is usually the easy part. The moral here is please don't delay your visit to A&E! Or perhaps in your case AJL, a quick trip down the M% to the Eye Hospital in Bristol? They took care of me the last time it happened and they were fantastic.

That's excellent news!GP surgery gave me the run around. When I rang them again, they "had no callback booked for today". I was told to go to A&E, although the receptionist was kind enough to point me to the Lydney Minor Injuries Unit. Apparently it is a walk in centre but on checking, I had to ring. I got an appointment for 12:00 noon and after shooting past the place once, I got there at five to.
At five past a delighful nurse called Hannah took me in and had a look. Apparently I had removed the fragment but the rust ring had to go. A wipe with a cotton bud did nothing so it was time for the needle. She was surprised how quickly that the rust ring came away and after another check with dye, pronounced me "cured". I have been told to go and buy some eye cream to use for five days now.
So all in all, a positive experience and not the nightmare that I had expected. The anaesthetic has worn off now and it is a little sore again, but I am sure that it will soon pass.
Il be surprised if an optom will touch it , ours wouldnt . Just give you a referral letter to the local eye clinic.Playing with a super strong welding magnet currently. I have tried my optician who can't get me in until tomorrow afternoon and another one who just cuts off the line after a few rings.
