Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but I'm afraid Ronan passed away on Feb 3rd 2022, the day after his mum.
I've only found out today as I spotted his post while looking for info on my Colchesters drive belts and decided to touch base with him.
I hadn't seen him for a few years, He used to come down and use my workshop from time to time and was hands down the best Tig welder I have ever seen, an absolute artist. A fine machinest too. We shared an interest in classic bikes as well as engineering, except he lived the dream riding a lovely Triumph on the road !
Sad news, Thank you Daveboy for posting the information and welcome to the forum despite the circumstances. RIP Ronan I never met you except via your posts but always appreciated them.
That’s terribly sad news. Of course, I didn’t know him apart from through reading his posts on here, and I guess this thread probably typifies him - asking for advice so he could help someone else. Maybe @Daveboy can pass on our collective condolences to the family.
Sorry to hear this, I did wonder if he would ever come back to the forum after his mum died. I always enjoyed his posts, he bought a J&S surface grinder from me so we used to swap occasional messages to find out how the restoration was progressing. Very sad, condolences to his family and friends.
@Daveboy thanks for posting, I kept in touch with Ronan on motorbikes out with this forum, am a fellow old Triumph owner. I was surprised he never replied to my emails.
Dreadful news, he is a loss to the community he will be greatly missed.
