Good morning fellow welders
I was made aware that some of you think if fell in a pond somewhere and never managed to pull myself out, you're not far wrong. I spent the majority of last year picking up the pieces after I spent a year volunteering for the Prince's Trust and other issues that occurred. I've learned some valuable lessons and hope I can keep the momentum rolling now as I'm starting to get back to the oldish me just markIII new and improved mental fish protector.
I've been working on a job for a Martial arts club and thought it might be good to share here. I thought you were all a bit sick of my pond covers ;-) so its nice to share something different for a change. I've made some amazing covers over the last year but they're still pond covers and I want to add another feather to my cap...
The whole job is a set of railing which are already done and then a double gate to fit a 2m space. I dont have a lot of experience making gates so have taken this project slower than usual.
So to add the setting, the work will all be done between a small walkway and the yard of the martail arts acadamy, I wasnt sure how I'd make the samurai because I wanted it to be seen from the club and the pathway behind it. Eventually I decided to use 30x10 flat bar for the outer line and 30x5 for the inside design so that it can be seen properly from both which ever side you are.
I've just finished the mask and will now start trying to figure out the gate bit...
I hope you're all well

The view from the bridge above the pathway
Using the wood to draw the image I then started to bend the steel. I uses a forge to get the tighter bends and to tapper the steel so it went together better
I will be splitting the mask in half and then add each half to each side of the gate
