Attempting the above, roller painted my white vwt4 years ago with some eBay military paint.
Went on and stayed on although looked like a seventies vinyl roof.
Old, scratched and faded now (the vans not much better).
Flatted it off , lots of original white showing through, plus I've done some filler work, plus two new wings have Halfords primer on.
There is also some cellulose (I think) rattle can on the filler that I used to sand back to show high spots.
So there's original paint mystery tank paint filler, Halfords primer and maybe cellulose.
I have Rustoleum combicolor to go over it which will be thinned with white spirits.
Should I be expecting paint reactions?
