I need a bit of advive here in what to do with my old central heating system!
I will be completely replacing the central heating pipework and boiler in my house and need some advice on what to use , plastic or copper.
The existing installtion is very old copper badly installed with no supports or lagging and I've had multiple leaks in every room so far from bad joints (solder & compression) green corroded pipes where the flux wasn't wiped off after soldering and pin holes. Its also piped as a one pipe system so the rads at the far points don't get very hot!
Some examples!
I had almost convinced myself that plastic Speedfit was the way to go but then read about rodent damage as the little buggers like to eat the pipe!
Obviously plastic is cheaper and much easier to install under wooden floors than copper but how bad is the problem with rodents? I live in the woods so have a good supply of mice that the cat loves but I dont think he'll like being stuffed under the floor and ordered to "fetch" them!
Any advice is appriecated.
