Hi all, first post, so please be gentle!!
I have a VERY old, as in I bought it as a present for my Dad when I was 17, and I'm 45 in Feb next year - Clarke 120, identical to the one in this post: http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=13663
My Dad has used it pretty hard since purchase, and it's it's always worked well, even if he's never so much as replaced the liner...
Anyway, his welding days are over, so it's been passed back to me, and it needs at the very least, a complete new torch & hose/lead set, and it could do with converting to a Euro Torch setup..
As I've now bought a couple of classic cars, the time is good for me to get reacquainted with a MIG, so - Am I better off spending £100 or so on converting the old Clarke to a Euro Torch setup and carry on using it, or spend say, £200 or so on a used Snap On/Cebora type "hobby" MIG..
Looking at the insides of the Clarke compared to some of the pics of newer welders on here, it's certainly a lot more substantial, and the fact that it has fared so well over 25yrs+ of use must mean the build quality is pretty good??
Any suggestions, as I've also been offered a used Snap Mig 130 Turbo, pretty local to me for £95 complete...
Advice appreciated..
Mike
