Ni Mh replacements originals were Ni Cad, didn’t notice difference between two types personally. Have tried zapping them with the Mig but to little effect.are they the nimh batteries as standard?

I use RC lipo's. You can buy a 5Ah 6S (24v) pack for under 30 quid and it will give a million times more torque than the original. You will need to replace the switch but the motor will be happy. Switch is very easy to do, couple pound delivered from china. hobbyking was good shop for buying lipo packs and charger.
