Hi all,
I've just bought an old vice for a pillar drill which I want to clean/renovate. It's a Bosch 385 if that means anything to anyone. Apart from being filthy dirty and the paint being a bit worn it is in pretty good operating condition. The moving jaw has a very nice sliding with no slop or play and moves very easily.
It has a deep hole on one of the slides (see piccy) which I am considering filling in with weld, however I'm not sure of:
- the material of the slide
- my rods (CMC RC11 from Aldi)
- my ability (DIY intermediate. I can lay a bead, but it's often uneven or there is undercut)
I don't want to completely screw it up so I'm considering not filling it at all - however if I do go ahead, what advice do people have for me to help me?
(I've got a small GYSMI 160P inverter)
Thanks in advance!
