Some time ago I got stiffed on Gumtree. Bought a Swindens vice only to discover one of the jaws has snapped off and is missing.
It was cheap enough to break for parts or sell on as a "project" but I quite fancy having go at building up the missing piece. I have MIG, TIG, stick or Oxy at my disposal and am leaning towards Oxy if only because I'll probably need to fire it up for cleaning and preheat anyway.
The repair doesn't need to be super strong, I imagine that end will only be used to secure motorcycle parts during restorations, but it does need to be useable. Quite happy to shoot some vid and or a load of photos of whichever process wins the debate!
It wont make pride of place in the workshop (I have a lovely Wilton waiting for that honor) but the rotating feature would make it quite handy and obviously I'm not going to bother with it as-is.
So if I build it up by brazing or welding with Oxy - how do I do it and what is the best I can hope for?
