I've been getting through the disposables fairly quickly so looking to go rent free.
There are a few welding places locally offered different deals:
LD Systems (I'm pretty sure he said part of Air Liquide) offer was £169+VAT for the bottle ownership then £46.75+VAT for refills, 11 litres @ 200 bar
Hobbyweld £50+VAT deposit for the bottle then £30+VAT for the refills, 9.5 litres @ 137 bar (choice of 5% or 15% CO2). £40 back if the bottle is returned (£10 admin).
South West Gas Supplies £55+VAT deposit for a 9l bottle, £36+VAT for refills (didn't ask about pressure, should have really).
By my calculation it looks like the cost per litre is slightly less with LD Systems, but it is a lot more to pay up front (more than I can afford!).
The local Hobbygas place would also deliver and swap bottles without a delivery charge because I'm on their round, which makes it a very tempting deal.
But, knowing little about rent free, I don't know if the Hobbyweld deal is good or not? (Some searching here suggests it's OK).
