Hi All,
Just been doing a project with several bolted sections & as usual some of the bolts in my store were a tad too long, a common problem I would guess.
I reduced the length by first screwing on a die nut, then cutting the bolt to the desired size with a hacksaw. Then after filing the rough end, screw the die nut ove the cut end to make the thread good. Sometimes this takes a few goes before I get a good start on the reduced bolt, sometimes it works but start still ends up a bit iffy.
Anybody got a sure fire way of ending up with a good start every Time? Always wondered if there is a better way
