You can get a much better branded set for your budget even new. I have three brilliant welders that were pretty much around that price range. A Cebora 2020 Synergic, a Cebora 2035/m Pulse and a Lincoln Electric Powertec 360. The pulse and Lincoln are well over £3k new
What makes a cebora 2020 Synergic a better bet than the 240-1? a quick comparison of specs the cebora is 60% at 90 amps the oxford is 60% at 140 amps, plus the simpler oxford will likely be cheaper to maintain for a long life
I appreciate that the cebora name is more widely known but the main factors in a purchase should be performance, reliability and longevity
I seriously considered second hand and the only machines I considered good (sight unseen safe purchases) went for more than £500 and when I factored in the distance to collect them (usually £100 plus) together with any possible expenditure on a new torch or anything else needed it made sense to decide on a new 240-1 and enjoy having the warranty
Most of the real bargains appear to be 3 phase which wasn't an option for me
I wasnt claiming the Cebora to be better. I was just stating that that is what I have and think its a belter
