I'm much more of a woodworker than a metal worker, so forgive my ignorance here. I'd like to make some railings for my house, to run across the top of our garden walls.
Here's a sketch of what I want to do.
I have more or less no idea about the practicalities of this, so all comments are welcome!
I'm guessing that 12mm for the uprights will be about right, and 10mm for the horizontals?
Looking at other iron/steel railings, they have bigger (box section?) posts every now and then. Could I avoid them by making the upright 'n' sections out of thicker steel? I'd like to keep the pattern really clean and unbroken if possible.
Presumably with the quantity, some metal supplier would be willing to supply the major bits cut to length, or am I being too hopeful there?
Any thoughts? I've got loads to spare, but they are all questions, and not answers.
Jake
