At last ive had some time in the workshop yesterday to sort the lathe out. It's had a good clean, re wired the motor and got the switch working correctly thanks to a member on here who furnished me with the wiring diagram.
A serious amount of crud, dried grease and swarf came out of all the nooks and crannies
Now for the help.
Machine is variable speed drive where two thrust forks one on the motor and second on drive shaft alter the pulleys thus giving speeds between 40 and 1700 rpm. Ive had to move these to get belt off to remove the motor. Ive got them back on but need to know how to set these up again to get the full rage of speeds. Both thrust forks are on the same shaft 180 degrees opposite and can be adjusted by a simple grub screw.
Does anyone know how to set these up correctly. Yes I know I should have taken photographs and measurements before dismantling but I didnt. Lesson learnt
Next up, machine came with a single post tool holder fitted to a T slot on the cross slide. It also came with a 4 way tool holder that takes 1/2 inch square tool. This fits on to the T nut and can be rotated as required. Now looking around ive been getting interested in the quick change tool posts, but there are some many options, designs and prices that I simply don't know where to start. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what I need to be looking at, preferably somthing that isn't going to need a new mortgage
