Oright guys after much time thinking and researching I have decided to purchase a R tech welder AC DC 201 amps.
My background in welding is nothing more than my job and a general interest. im not coded, and have only been doing this for a few years. But I work with alot of very skilled blokes who have taught me alot.
I am used to using Kemmpi and Migtronic 3 phase welders in excess of £3-4000 per unit so you can say I have been spoilt and this has left me with high expectations. Expect me to be quite critical about things that people just wouldnt care about. And you will find me comparing it to my works welders all the time which aint fair. But now you know that I will carry one.
Right down to business.
When I took it out the box, my initial impressions was that it was alot bigger and heavier than I expected which is not a bad thing. The paint was nice, it felt like a sturdy machine, the analogue nobs felt precise and solid.
I began to expect my purchase and I can tell you the first thing I grumbled at was the torch. It just seemed a bit cheap and bulky and it had a chinese feel to it.. But I must say it worked very well and I got used to it quick.
Adjusting the regulators didnt feel as crisp as the more expensive welders but they work with no problems.
After a brief setting up I started with some stainless welding, just a few runs at 90 amps to get the feel of it.
Now, I know it aint pretty but i was just eager to get going and feel what it was like
Then I tried some aluminium, running some beads. Theres plenty of adjustment and within minutes I got the settings perfect for aluminium.
The AC noise is quite distinctive and different from the Kemmpi and Migtronic, alot more sharp and crackley.
Heres a quick video of house noisy the fan is, Remember this is a air cooled model and i dont think anyone cares about how noisy it is, but more how well it welds.

Well, on the first night i welded up a outboard motor guard that was damaged and earned my first 20 quid which it done a excellent job off.
My final thaughts are that its a excellent welder for the money!!
----------It can weld just as good as any migtronic or kemmpi welder-------
and has most of the same settings and adjustments.
My only concern with it is that it will fail on me after the 2 year warranty is up, if it keeps on going then i think R tech have made somthing special here and i would recomend this welder to anyone like myself.
I think the only thing i would change about it is the torch.
Dylan gave me a good deal with this too. Excellent customer service and very prompt delivery!!!
i hope that anyone who was thinking about getting one can rest easy its a good peice of kit.
*i know i cant spell, if you got any questions let me know!
Regards, Tom..
