I'm in a bit of a quandary with regards to my toolpost on the Kerry (think Harrison L5/140 size).
Currently I have an old Dickson QCTP (T1) which is decent and a selection of T0 and T1 holders which frankly have seen better days.
I could really do with some more holders, and possibly replace some too.
Second hand holders seem to go for silly money for the condition, and I've heard the Chinese versions are very hit and miss for quality and fit.
The Bison versions seem good quality, not sure how compatible they are with the Dickson (they claim they are), and they aren't exactly cheap either.
Another option I was considering was selling off the Dickson and using it to fund a different system.
I know the generic Chinese piston types are to be avoided, but the wedge style one's seem to have some reasonable feedback, and the holders are dirt cheap. Not sure if they are all the same or if there is a style that is better.
The Chinese knock off multifix also looks interesting, but I suspect will come out a lot more expensive than new holders for the Dickson.
I'm curious as to what people are using, what works well and which to steer clear of.
Would I see much of an improvement going from Dickson to another system? Rigidity? Shank capacity?
Any hot leads on bargain holders?
Thoughts?
