I had my van in for MOT yesterday. A week ago while it was in for other work it got a pre-MOT inspection. The person who inspected it pointed out some corrosion near the suspension mounts and a couple of other issues (ball joints and a CV joint boot) so I fixed the corrosion issue (cut out and new metal welded in, then painted) and it was booked in for the other work then the MOT. The tester failed it for everything that was mentioned in the inspection (including the corrosion that I had already fixed), then replaced the parts that should have been done before the test and passed it, with an advisory for corrosion which I feel is uncalled for - the corrosion that was there was localised and has been sorted, there is some surface rust under there but nothing serious.
I'm not impressed.
