Hi. Wonder if anyone can help.
Finally got around to looking at the hydraulics on my Q&S saw.
With help off here I found what I thought was thr problem. There is a bevelled washer which controls the flow of oil.
The shaft on mine that opens the washer was damaged and the washer was missing a spring.
Replaced seal on ram. Filled with oil and the bow falls perfectly and when flow is stopped hold the bow but I cannot get the bow to be pumped back up.
Changed oil to a heavier grade - 150 iso and still the same.
Suspected the non return valve. Stripped it down which is a pain in the bum as the valve is down in the cylinder and the slot was slightly damaged but managed to get it out. The valve is just s grub screw with a hole through it containing a ball bearing. The ball wouldnt move. Small piece of swatf making thr ball stick. Bingo - found the fault - no, still the same.
This is driving me mad.
Anyone ever stripped the hydraulics down? The check valve was just a
ball bearing retained with a pin. No spring.
The oil gallery that feeds the piston also had valve but no ball bearing. Just grub screw with a hole through the centre but it does have a retaining pin.
Any ideas and sorry for convaluted explanation.
