Not sure if this post belongs here but for an up-coming project I need to have a better understanding of steel cables and pulleys, their specifications, capabilities, and availability.
The project will involve using a hydraulic cylinder (more on that one later!) operating a cable and pulley system to lift about 100kgs through 4 anchor points (i.e. that 100kgs load will be spread across 4 cables). As a built in FOS I plan to spec any cable or pulley to a minimum of 50kgs but when it comes to cable sizing and for that matter pulleys too, I am something of a novice to say the least.
I have spent quite some time on Google and can find plenty of suppliers of said items, even cables made up to my specification (i.e. diameter, lengths and end fittings) however, whilst in my head I sort of know what it will all look like, the rest of it eludes me.
Can anyone point me in the direction of where to find all this information or even advise directly if this is your bag as it were?
Cheers,
Richard.
