Outside activities got put on hold this morning due to rain
So one thought one should give the mig a going over, new liner, good blowout of dust, fix the switch on the torch(a little niggle) tighten the ground dinze socket just a general once over as you do
Puts it all back together for a check, run a few beads AND no arc, wires feeding gas is coming out, things going click inside as it does, checked ground all ok, whats going on?
Next check to see if i'm getting any volts at the tip, nope nothing no reading whatsoever, poppycock, open it all up again
Looking inside cant see anything gone pop or come lose,WTF
So with little sparky probe poked around to see if i'm getting power where it should be
1st off i checked all switches,on/off working ok supplying volts to PCB etc went to check my volt switches
Nothing not a bean thats my coarse volts switch btw
Checking the fine volts switch
I get power to all those, this of course is when the torch trigger is pressed
goes to the contactor
Now i'm getting live(voltage) on 2/T1, Neutral on 4/T2 when i squeeze trigger contact works (clicks)
I get a voltage on 1/L1 which goes to the fine volt switch, but nothing from 3/L2 which goes to the coarse volt switch
So the question is this the reason for my fault,am i suppose to have live coming from 3/L2?
Is my contactor goosed?
I'm going to remove it and give it a good squirt of contact cleaner pop it back on and fingers crossed
