With the impending high winds and inevitable power cuts I went and dug the little old gennie out. Been meaning to for years. It's bloody heavy is one, needs a capacitor (currently shared between it and the radial arm saw) and I had some idea of putting wheels on it and building it a purpose made shelter in the garden. Then I'd need to fit the changeover switch, run some SWA from the shelter. It's never happened. Dead man's lead it is then...like last time.
Nearly killed myself getting it out of the depths of the garage on my own. Managed to find a brand new 16uF capacitor I must have bought and never fitted. What little petrol is in the tank, barely covers the bottom, looks sloshy and clean. God knows how many years it's been sat there. Going to fit the cap, sling a shot of Reddex and some fresh fuel in and see what happens.

Found this really old photo. I'm thinking there must have been an end cap / cover on this once? The old capacitor obviously bolted to the two tapped bosses:
