Not sure if this is strictly 'sculpture' in the real sense but it sure took some 'arty thinking' (scouse ) to produce it.
I found the picture on the web and spent a long time tracing the salient points of the image into Drawplus. Exported this as a DXF file into Sheetcam. The hard part then was trying to figure out which bit was staying and which was going!
Fingers crossed I started the CNC up and 22 minutes later it produced this fabulous object 27cm x 37cm in 2mm steel.
I don't think this could have been made any other way than with CNC? Cut out by hand ...if it's possible to do such fine cuts in 2mm by hand ....would take weeks of painstaking work, and to design and make a die would be very expensive.
Very pleased with it and it has a sort of 'lacy' look to it....hope it makes someone a nice Christmas present!
