Had to blow out some drilled holes in some 75 x 75 x 6mm RHS today.. I'm making a subframe for a tipper body to mount onto. (Absolutely cannot weld on the vehicle chassis) So the subframe is bolted onto chassis and the tipper body is welded to this subframe.. bloody Isuzu's..
Anyway I'd just pull out the oxy and be done with it.. but I didn't want to put too much heat in the beams and warp them up. So i resorted to digging out the old plasma cutter. Never used one before. Geez it was rough! I had more crap blow back at my face than I've ever had when welding galv!!
Torch tip was cleaned every few runs and wasn't worn, just very temperamental..
I never use plasma, I much prefer oxyacetylene. Just wondering what you guys prefer in the workshop?
