I'm starting to look at building a table to run a plasma cutter on.
So far, there seem to be two main issues (apart from the size) that dictate plasma cutter selection;
- Pilot arc method - HF causes noise issues which are an issue with the control electronics
- Interfacing - lowest level involves wiring to the torch trigger wires, THC requires more work, mainly the voltage feedback from the arc, using a transformer.
Does anyone have direct experience of using a plasma cutter on a home-brew CNC table? Are you using THC?
Thanks,
Luke
