Hey all,
I couldnt find much info on the nitty gritty details of the parweld Xtm211di. So having spoken to @Tom Orrow L and being more than happy with his advice and guidance (i think i pestered him with over 20 odd emails by the end) I decided to go for it and purchased it through him.
Arrived today well packaged and this is what you get in the boxes:
The quality seems to be okay to my eyes, only tiny thing I am annoyed about is that on the inside of the case the metal has been scratched by something during production. Very nit picky but if I was in charge of quality control it would of been changed/repaired before leaving the factory. Will be the 1st place to rust if the machine is abused enough or kept in a damp workshop (hopefully this unit will live a life of luxury).
Picture of damage:
Again. Very nit picky and really not that much of an issue at all.
Wire feed mechanism is only a single drive roller. Not much of an issue for me as I dont need a torch any longer than 3m and any aluminium will be done with the AC tig. Picture of it as follows:
The wire holder is plastic, seems high quality and hard wearing. Can take 15kg spools. Photo here, note the cap is off:
Moving on to the small bits that come in the box you get 2 gas lines with brass fittings, but only 1 regulator, sorry @Tom Orrow L didnt need the hose you popped in my order, didnt realise it came with 2! A bunch of booklets, a small packet of important looking connection things. I assume spares for the various leads. You also dont get a plug but remember it does need a 32amp supply so this is to be expected:
The ground lead that comes with it has a nice level of "snap" to it and has solid copper inserts for the conductivity, no plated rubbish thankfully:
The stinger is very heavily sprung which Is to be expected. Difficult to get a photo with one hand but I'll give it a go:
Moving on to the fun bits we have the TIG torch.
You get what feels to be a high quality cable and protective rubbery outer thing with a ball joint at the handle to prevent fighting as much with the cable I imagine. There is a power switch so you can switch between mig and tig by just pressing the button and also it has HF start. It also has and up and down button for the amps on the handle. At the other end the typical connectors and I think I have found what the little metal things are for.
You get a number 7 cup with the machine and a grey tungsten. Photos will explain better:
With the mig torch you get a solid feeling connector and a cable that feels like the armored cabling with solid copper wires like the sort you would use for exterior wiring. Thankfully they didnt ship it with the LCD screen handle that allows you to adjust settings on the gun with a display. I am happy with the buttons as the handle is already pretty bulky. You have up and down and then the side buttons are for changing the parameter you are adjusting. Will be interesting to see if these have a lock function to prevent accidental changes.
The trigger feels two stage, theres a noticeable increase in resistance half way through the action, I assume this starts the gas and then the wire feed half way through the trigger action.
You also get the ball socket joint, this is less flexible than the tig one which I would guess is because you have the wire feed going through this one.
Hit the photo limit so see next post
