I am looking into the purchase of a new helmet,
Main issue: I have been doing some small welds on stainless and need to get pretty close to the weld to see what is going on hence I am thinking of trying a vegaview as I get the feeling a lense closer to my face will suit me better.
I tried welding up some 0.6mm stainless a couple of nights ago. The workshop is not very well lit and I found my current mask will not react to the lower amps well enough.
I ended up putting some washers on the work piece and striking up on them then, once the mask had dimmed, walking the arc over to the weld zone. Once my mask had sensed the arc I could back off the power and it would stay dimmed until I had finished the weld.
I did try a new battery but still the same.
Just wondered if anybody had any experience with optrel lids at low power?
Or and other brands for that matter?
Thanks!
