Hi guys, not sure I've ever posted any pics of anything I've made on here.
This was a little job I did a few months back. My bro in law is a cardiac surgeon, and the procedure he does a lot of is all done through the arm & round the blood vessels to the heart. So the only bit of the operating table he 'uses' is the side where the arm is lying. He wanted more space, hence the project.
I used polycarbonate (10 or 12 mm - can't recall) for the surface, all the edges were routed smooth. I made up a couple of tigged stainless brackets in 50 x 10mm 316 which fit into the 'kit bar' along the edge of the operating table and do up with a couple of knurled stainless thumbscrews.
After a bit of hunting around I decided on bonding the brackets to the polycarb sheet. Worked a treat once I'd stomached the set-up costs. Looked pretty good even looking down through the clear plastic surface to the glued area.
Apparently it is going down a storm - I might have to set up a medical equipment manufacturing division!
Anyway, here it is. Yes that is a real op in the photos.
