This is very true and not just in top athletes, its true in the local running club (but much more so in track athletics. Sadly I am not fast enough for that) and outdoor climbingI've always maintained there is a direct correlation between the size of a female athletes shorts and their success.
This was borne out in the pole vault I was watching at lunch time.
Bronze, Silver and Gold, Longest shorts, regular shorts length shorts, and vaulting in her knickers ...
My local has a speed wall, but its only 12m instead of 15m, straight up instead of 5 degrees? It has the proper holds in the same pattern too. I have done it in 8 seconds and have seen a local do it in 4 ( he is training for the gb squad). The trick to it is be bouncy, every move has to be a spring. When you watch the olympics a lot of the slower ones have no bounce - if they havent learnt that, they havent done much training. Best in the world..
Anyone that enjoyed the climbing, there is plenty more on ifsc's YT.
Watched the rest of womens on eurosport, the coverage was better. The bouldering route set were dissapointing, I was honestly bored, while bouldering is usually the best bit.
