I have finally got around to tarting up my dad's old toolbox. The job is mainly born of sentimental reasons but I do plan to use it rather than sticking it in a glass case! This is the box he had before I was born - it must be at least 60 years old but I'm guessing probably quite a bit older than that. The tray for the top of the box was missing but I can remember pretty well what it was like so I have fabricated a replacement out of 2mm sheet. I have made a few fairly minor repairs to the original outer box. The next question is how to tart it up a bit and paint the whole lot. Current thoughts are to burn / wire brush the paint off the box and then spray with some aerosol galvanizing paint. Clearly, any paint finish is going to get knocked off to a certain extent in use so there is no point going overboard. I was wondering about some of that Bilt Hamber Deox Gel to brighten up the steel a bit once the worst of the paint is off?
Any suggestions?
