ring main Breaker and RCD keep tripping I am guessing something is wet but I can not find a fault yet looks like i have about 22 sockets to pull apart.
Rat + Wiring
Can't you just split the ring main to narrow down the problem area?
If the mcb is tripping as well as the rcd you have something very wet/hot. If it was just wet as in damp then i would just expect the rcd to trip. Anything with a heating element on the circuit?
I could yes it is a whole ring around the garage so would mean disconnecting one end and somewhere in the middle
Yep, it will soon narrow down where the problem is.
Ok, so you have a separate DB in the garage.the rest of the circuits are working fine lights 32amp socket 16amp socket
Yes mate it was the one from the house when I updated it. Split load half rcd protected half notOk, so you have a separate DB in the garage.
I'll grab a pic now what's the difference. Cable comes in under ground. No I don't think the problems are linked. I am not even sure I have a problem in the lighing ring now.I'm wondering if these two faults you've had are linked? Do yo know what type of supply you have je TN-CS, TN-C or TT?
A picture of the supply cable, head and main cut out fuse would probably tell us. I'd be looking for a loose neutral somewhere, check all the main cables and terminals in the D/B. Have any of the neighbours had trouble?
Everything definitely unplugged? To be taking the breaker aswell youd image it would be a simple find
Another insulation resistance test job
And as dobs says
