ill try and grab some photos tomorrow.
Set up:
Cebora 140. Voltage Setting 3 (0-4)
Wire feed just above half way. 0.6mm wire.
Co2 gas. Flow unknown (max flow from 'pub gas bottle')
2mm steel. Paint and rust ground off to shiney on one side, left rusty the other. (Trying to see what doing a landrover chassis will be like!)
Ive never welded before, but have a good idea of what to look for, had a good read of the forum and the guide which has been very helpful. Spent about 2 hours grinding and re welding a piece of scrap that was lying around. Can get it to stick together quite well but would like to know how to get a little more penatration.
When putting the edges of the sheet together (butt weld?) I can't seem to get full penatration on this 2mm sheet, even on setting 3 or even 4. Could it be my technique? Set up? The second hand (old) welder? Or possibly the power supply at my friends farm being a bit underpowered? The rusty metal?
I had a quick play welding up 'slits' made by my grinder cutting disk (a butt weld with a 1-2mm gap?) which I understand can help. Seems a bit trickier to weld but can get an ok weld going, sometimes blowing through and sometimes not quite getting all the way through.
I'm a bit confused to why I can't get the pieces butted up against each other to fully penatrate. The calculator says if anything setting 3 should be too much.
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Charlie.
