So basically before i start using the forum and the plethora of quality information on here to teach myself how to weld i first need to fix my migmate.
Im fairly electrically minded just not so electronically so going through that teaching stage as well ive searched fairly long and hard for the answer but found literally nothing for this model theres hundreds of posts about wire feed issues ive read id just like to know how close i am to the answer from doing my own poking around
Model- Migmate 155t
Problem - no wire feed. Pull the trigger and get a click from the small 12vdc control relay.
What i (think) i know - Im getting 240vac on the transformer primary to earth. 105vac on the secondary side to earth on one leg and 119vac to earth on the other leg. What i find strange is thats its a 230v-12vac transformer but doesnt get anywhere near 12vac out until i push the main contactor manually then it reads 16.7vac and 0.4vac on the secondary...now were talking...so i follow the 16vac and it goes to the trigger, with the trigger pulled it then sends ac to the rectifier where i get 9vac across ~ . I the measure 14vdc on the + side of the rectifier and 2.2vdc on the - side. The + of the rectifier goes to the main contactor where i get 16.6vdc across the coil but it isnt pulling in when the trigger is pressed. The - side goes to the thyristor to maybe ground the coil??? I have put a screwdriver on it when its powered but it doesnt seam like the magnetic field is strong enough to me...i have alos taken a 12v motorbike battery to the terminals and doesnt even move.View attachment 93328 View attachment 93329 The resistance of this coil is 21 ohms.
I dont know where to go next!! Theres just one little beep of a component thats nkered im so close i can feel it!! If your not bored already asked me if ive missed anythin
Sorry for the long winded first post more about electronics than welding but once i get this fixed i can crack on with the good stuff!!
Thanks
