I’ve been meaning to do this for a few weeks.
I ordered for a reasonable price, three Noga indicator holders from Linear Tools (a subsidiary of Chronos).
I’m still waiting for a large FAB which is on back order for about three-four weeks.
Nice cardboard presentation box.
First up the small Fine Adjust Top, NF61003.
I certainly wouldn’t have wanted to pay much more for this small base and holder.
The articulated arm is the usual quality of a Noga arm.
I didn’t realise they’d gone to a die cast looking aluminium for the fine adjust mech, over the old plastic style but it seems to work. It’s fairly well finished but is larger than the old plastic style.
This is what lets it down, The quality/finish on the base is really sub-par and no where near the quality of the old Noga mag base I have.
Whether it’s because this is a mini 300N base I don’t know. It certainly isn’t strong either.
The lever to switch the magnet on and off is actually crunchy and stiff, feels like there is swarf or grindings in there.
They’ve also gone to a grey hammered finish, whereas the old Noga bases had a heavy duty black crinkle finish, presume powder coated and baked.
It will be interesting to see the quality of the 800N base when that arrives.
