I'm spraying a stripped shell, so the main areas are the two rear quarters and the roof. The quarters have filler repairs in them, but the roof is very straight with no filler in it.
I flatted back all the old paint, laid one coat of primer on the filler repairs, then another coat over the old car. I've since sanded back the roof to a very smooth finish, but in places I went through the primer to the original flat paint, since I only laid down one coat.
Is it ok to paint over this, or should I be painting only over a full layer of fresh primer? On one hand I want a perfect finish, on the other I don't want too many layers since it'll make the paint brittle. What to do?
