Back in the 50's, I used to weld in a small shipyard, called Dravo, on the Mississippi in Baton Rouge. We used stick welders exclusively, even 1/4 in. JET rods on flat and horz. welds. The slag would just curl up behind your weld. Anyhow, after all these years I have this craving to learn TIG, but feel like a novice. I have gas welded with oxy-acetylene which, aside from the source, looks similar to TIG but hope to get some help from the Forum. I've acquired a Solar (Century) 295 rig and a Solar Universal DC converter, a Universal High Freq. Arc Stabilizer, Argon, flowmeter, TIG gun etc. Now the first thing some of you will say is "junk" but I'm old school, not wealthy and hard headed. I will listen to good advise but I'm not spending any money till I try what I have. Now, how do I put it all together? Hope I haven't started off on the wrong foot with you guys. Airstray
