Hi
Just picked up my first lathe a bench top Warco ( just wanted something reliable but not too expensive or large) it's close to new..
everything seems good, got lots of tooling etc with it plus a 3 and 4 jaw chuck and tapered tail stock accessories ..
I ask... anyway of me identifying the different cutting tools? I've a box full of them but no real idea what is for where etc.. also. I did a couple of trial runs along the saddle cutting a piece of mild steel round bar, all went great, however, even with coolant applied the finish after a few cuts was very rough! I did try various bits but no real improvemen? It also has an automatic drive in the saddle cut if req.. I tried this but, I'm guessing it's geared for cutting a thread as it cut a helicoil like a fine thread when engaged, hence I went back to hand winding... I have a box of gears so perhaps I should investigate that.. I've downloaded Warcos instructions but these are really basic.. also I have a nice dial gauge, plunger type, what is best type of support arm mechanism to get for it so I can use it anywhere ... a magnetic base type perhaps?
Many thanks and sorry I'm a newby to this but we all need to ask at times hey..
