Got my new welding helmet today, really pleased with it, got it from R-Tech.
Im pleased i paid a little extra for the Phantom Extreme because i have it turned down to 7 to Tig weld aluminium. The best way i can describe it now is, i have a nice crisp view of whats happening when it darkens and it gives a good clear view of the work before it darkens so i can see where im starting very easily. It is very sensitive, i had to turn it down because the lamp above my bench was making it darken, perfect for Tig welding.
So now now ive tried both cheap and nasty and decent helmets and the difference is night and day.
I look foreward to dipping the tungsten a whole lot less because i can see what im supposed to be doing far better now
Heres the first welds done using the new helmet-
Machine was at 100 amps using pedal, 3mm thick, 5356 filler.
