Hi all,
I'm in my welding infancy and am in my last couple of weeks of a C&G level 1 MIG course at Tameside college. My interest in welding has been brought about by the desire to start modifying a motorcyle, specifically the rear subframe on a 20+ year old Honda CB500 twin, to make a retro "Street Scrambler".
I bought a used Cebora Turbo 130 off fleabay in "spares or repairs" condition, which appeared to be suffering from a broken tension arm screw on the clapper arm assembly. After making a metal replacement, I then discovered that the gearbox was knackered due to some worn out teeth on one of the cogs. Not deterred, I have subsequently modified the machine to accept one of the "generic" drive/tension assemblies as used on Sealey MIG machines. I haven't invested in any gas yet (only finished the mod at the weekend), but test welds without gas have proved the drive and tension works fine and I am getting some penetration.
Maybe I'll get around to producing a "how to" for the modification just in case anyone else wants to try and get their old broken Cebora back in action.
