Put it this way, any halfway decent 150 amp inverter stick set will pump out enough juice to run a 3.25mm rod all day long, what's more, the marvellous little machine will do it off of a 13 amp plug. So it won't cost you £40 worth of diesel each day.
A 3.25 is all you need for 6mm steel and it's surprising how fast you can go once you get proficient.
