The only pipe I managed to get was some off cuts of sign posts, 3" diameter, was hoping for something a bit bigger but this will have to do! Very strong stuff, the walls on it are about 4/5mm thick, so it weighs a fair bit

Then I cut a circle in the top, probaby about 10" diameter, to make a hot plate
I had a square plate, the same size, ironically used to be a cover for the chimney thing on our house, I cut off the back corners then welded it on
So the hot plate is straight on top of the fire, none of the gas bottle is in between it
