There is no fusion to the lower tube on two sides. As that side has more metal (extends in 2 directions from weld point) it will require more heat. You need to faveor the lower tube and just weave breifly onto the upper tube.
Thin is difficult and takes practice. Moving faster is better unless you can get your power way down. ).6mm wire is also much easier on thin metal.
So for more heat, move the gun (wand?) slower so more heat is generated?
I found it easier welding right to left(pulling the weld)?
More practice at the weekend me thinks.
Thanks.
It will all come with practice i hope. The last welding i did was only for a little bit about 2 years ago with the welder that had stuttering wire feed issues! so it didnt help.
Practice, practice, practice...
start learning by tacking all the way around, only through practice will you start producing good runs, keep a good wire brush close by at all times. take your time and concentrate on your breathing, youd be supprised the amount of people who hold their breath when welding. neal
Took years for me to get out of that habit but then maybe it had something to do with welding cars that had underseal and other sorts of crap giving off lovely fumes for me to breathe.
hi, have done a bit of welding repairs under cars, exausts etc, its not easy is it. on holiday on koh samui thailand at the minute. theres little metal shops at every corner, they weld in their bare feet here. saw some guy yesterday stabing at the side of his motorbike with a stick, no mask eyes closed, not joking. anyway, pleased to meet you, neal
Thanks for the comments chaps. I shall have a play over the weekend, its a bit late to start grinding by the time i get to play in the evening...
Practice Practice Practice.....
