Ok here are my first attempts at tig welding. I have been using 1.6mm red tip tungsten’s and ground the tips according to the miller education website and 1.6mm copper coated mild steel filler rods. Got a half size bottle of pure argon from the local gas guys and he let me have the bottle with no rental (they know me from my place of work)! Gas is running at 8 lpm.
I am having trouble welding T-joints for some reason. The arc won’t stay still, it keeps jumping from side to side and I can’t get the filler rod in there very well.
Butt weld on 2 pieces of 4mm plate.
More T-joint trouble.
In the pictures below the box section is quite thin and clean (bought it from B&Q) and seems to weld easier.
What's with the pinholes?
