I'm putting a rear sill section on my merc190 and there is a factory mig brazed joint at the rear of the sill.
Thatcham approved repair manual gives the replacement weld schedule for this as a rebraze, but the area is not made from high strength steel although some parts of the car are.
My experience so far:
Longer than usual stickout, mine seems happiest at 15-18mm
No2 out of 7 on my very old 160 amp mig of unknown European origin, I will stick a meter on it.
A higher than usual wire speed, possibly due to the argon.
It does weld nicely though, although my mig will be better on the inverter as opposed to the genset, we live off grid.
Well worth the 35 quid or so the small roll cost me.
