Hi, does any one how good the Murex transtig 200 squarewave is welding ally, say compared to the Lincoln 255 or older Miller syncrowave, I`m looking for a cheaper a/c machine that will do a good job
Cheers
Hi Fishy
Is this the Transtig model,
I have the Stel 200h which is exactly the same, (In fact I'm told the transtigs are made by stel),
Its a superb machine for aluminium and stainless tig welding and also for ac and dc metal arc welding, Ive used it for over 5 years without any trouble at all.
Thanks for the info Paul, the machine I had my eye on is an older machine I think, Murex Transtig ac/dc 200 squarewave, have you used this one or do you think its the same
cheers
Marcus
There quite a few different models with the transtig name, you might find a manual here, Murex is a respected name in the industry, as is Miller and Lincoln, over the years Ive used welding machines made by all these companies, they are all very good, nowadays you really should be looking to buy an inverter based machine especially if running on single phase.
I think an inverter would be better also from a size point of view as I hav`nt a lot of space but I want to keep the cost down, what inverter would you suggest, are the chinese imports ok, these seem very cheap (probably for a reason).
There also is a Murex 352 for sale, very big but seems like a good machine, do you think this is preferable to a cheaper inverter (I do have 3 phase)?
The Murex 352 is a good machine but the problem is getting spares if it goes wrong, I have been selling the ac/dc chinese sets for some time, for the cash they do a job and we dont get many back
Out of them all I think the Parweld XTI 200 is about the best, variable current control on the torch 200Amps 13Amp plug, we sell a couple a week and dont have a lot of problems, our engineers inspect everyone before it goes out the door, they reckon the Parweld has the best build quality out of all the Chinese
I have one, came from an aerospace auction in kingston
A mate[he worked for the company that supplied them] snagged it for me for
£500. I have a printed manual from 1986 and the price was £4999!
I bought mine in 1989 so I suppose it wasn't a bad buy. Only thing I don't like about it is the noise the water pump makes, I have refrained from levering it apart in case I break it.
I have the manual and full circuit diagram, CLICK ME FOR A COPY, mine worked faultlessly till 2006 when an ic that turned the HF on went, no electronics knowledge but being tight I managed to track it down and replace it;-)
