I have been offered a Murex 150 tradesmig, fully serviced with a new torch for £150.
I have no idea on value of this welder so do you think it is worth it?
I can't find any specs for it.
I just had a quick look on murex's website. Are you sure it's not a TradesMig 140? ...a 160? ...or even (licking lips), a TradesTig 150? If Murex make it - it should be listed here on their website.
I have a TradesMig 210 - It's v.well made, transformer based and is a super "go all day" basic MIG welder. What it lacks in bells and whistles it makes up for in consistency. I wouldn't get rid of it unless I absolutely had to.
If it's in good condition, and everything functions as it should - snap their hand off!!
I would be a little bit suspicious at that price - is there anything wrong with it. Having said that - it might just be a bargain.
I have a Murex Tradesmig 251 - runs all day, everyday - not a minutes problem. Probably one of my best buys. I think that costs me £700 second hand - It had hardly been used.
Stuart, have a look at www.murexwelding.co.uk. I can't directly link it cos its a PDF, but go to arc equipment, mig/mag, then instruction manuals, and the manual for the Tradesmig 130 is on there. An older machine than i first thought, but none the less a good product.
OCV is 13 to 22V, with amps at 30 to 130A. You should be able to go doen to 0.8mm, and up to 4/5mm thick. Again, all depends on prep, method etc, but gives you an idea of its capabilities. Have a look through the instruction manual - well worth the read if you are thinking of buying it.
Ally is a pig to weld with mig, but yes, with the correct wire, gas, liner and tips you will be able to melt ally
