if u can aford it or get some cheap belzona super molecular is the bestone last question do you recommend a make of chemical metel that is best to use or are they all much the same. cheers again
As said 4043 is the flavour to reach for, ally (most metals including steel and cast iron are alloys [/pedantic] ) castings are almost always ally + silicon with a little mag or copper + tiny amounts of other ingredients. With castings that put up a fight (some flavours aren't very weldable) 4047 works better- more silicon, up at the eutectic composition so the melting point is lowerI'd be interested to see what some of the more experienced members think of a repair like this and what filler would be best for an unknown alloy casting?

"At the end of the day" you need to strip the whole engine down to do a proper job - especially to get spotlessly clean.
With that in mind why not simply buy a good crankcase to build your internals into ? After all if you will have to pay somebody to do the job then their labour cost might be similar to the cost of a better case.
