Hopefully that will work as it's the first video I've uploaded!!!
Machine - TecArc AC/DC 166i bought 2010
Argon 6 LPM
1 second pre-flow
5 seconds post-flow
1.6mm alu starting at 40 ish amps (pedal) going down to 30A
When welding in AC it will go along OK then the arc seems to break down and sounds like morse code.
I have set the HF spark gap to 0.8mm and cleaned the contacts, Richard at TecArc advised 1- 2mm but it won't start with that gap.
I have checked all the plugs and removed and re-seated those which aren't siliconed in place for the HF board with no difference.
No boards or visible components show evidence of problems - oveheating, gone bang etc!
This is what the tungsten looked like after the weld.
and this is what the weld looked like, the curve is me trying to keep it in frame!
The small bit marked DC was done in DC. I expect either HF or the balance has gone awry as the cleaning does not seem very good.
I have also checked for gas leaks, earth cable, clamp and plug. Put new collet back cap etc in the torch head.
Any one else come across this before or have any ideas before I ship it off to York in the New Year?
Thanks
