I had been puzzled by some metal sockets set in the bodywork side rails opposite the rear bottom of the door, removing the mangled door card on the door has cleared up what they're for.
The doors previously must have had a pin (attached to circular baseplate) set in the door bottom to locate the door as it closes. I've remade the pin (see photo)
The thought came to me that metal pin could be potentially a source of rattles, perhaps replacing the sockets with an engineering plastic one might be a better option.
Any thoughts on the best plastic to use, I have a lathe to turn them up.
