Does anyone know why MIG welding torches all use copper gas shields whereas on a TIG torch gas shields are generally some kind of none conductive ceramic? Wouldn't it be helpful to have a non conductive shield on a MiG? My nozzle is always getting clogged with spattered beads that clump together (not so clean a weld doesn't help I know), sometimes it can create a short circuit too, which is never good.
